TARGET GROUP:

Drivers and Trainers

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:

INFORMED is a Pilot project aiming exactly at the targets set by the European Commission with regard to road safety during the transport of dangerous goods, i.e. the development of a new training curriculum and innovative multimedia tools, to support the training of drivers and their instructors on transporting dangerous goods and handling them efficiently in case of an accident. The new curriculum is intended to extend to a wider training content, in order to meet the increased demands for safety in the field. It will thus include new elements such as ecological driving and anti-skid, defensive and other advanced driving techniques, focused on particular types of vehicles.

OBJECTIVES:

To improve the quality of vocational training and guidance systems and of training qualifications. This will be achieved through a new training curriculum, covering a wide range of transport behaviours while carrying dangerous goods and a global guidance on treating dangerous cargo in case of an accident.

To improve, as a consequence, the skills and competences of drivers who transport dangerous goods, through a complete vocational training at all levels, initial but also advanced post-training, of them and their instructors.

To provide work-linked easy access to lifelong acquisition of skills and competences through a well-designed training curriculum, applied through a multimedia-training package. The new training package will cover an initial vocational training as well as a continual / lifelong training scheme for the acquisition of skills and competences in transporting dangerous goods.

To facilitate training by full use of the ICT tool pedagogic aspects.

To offer training flexibility, by including elements of self- and distant-training.

To grant the wide-scaled applicability of INFORMED products through its validation at a wider European level.
